Our CIO - Mark Ferguson

The One 3 Care story is one carved from lived experience.  For many years, our Chief Inspiration Officer, Mark Ferguson built a successful business advisory firm in the corporate sector.  Its success was due to a 100% focus on client needs.  In April 2023, Mark's life changed in an instant when he sustained a cervical Spinal Cord Injury and became an incomplete tetraplegic.

After navigating his own rehabilitation journey over the last 18 months, Mark advocated to establish One 3 Care so that people with neurological conditions can access the right help from Occupational Therapists who truly understand their condition.

One 3 is named after the three components of the nervous system - the brain, the spinal cord and the peripheral nerves - and recognition that an impact to one component impacts the entire system which in turn impacts bodily function.

One 3 Care is an Occupational Therapy practice based on clinical supervision, where our staff receive ongoing professional guidance, mentoring and support from our Clinical Leaders.  We believe that this improves the delivery of our care and the wellbeing of our staff and clients.

Mark has an Economics degree and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Our Clinical Lead - Renee Tay Zea

Areas of expertise:

  • Upper limb rehabilitation including managing tone, increasing strength and managing reduced sensation

  • Cognitive rehabilitation focussing upon assessment and practical strategies to manage daily demands

  • A deep understanding of fatigue and persistent pain

Renee understands that recovery from catastrophic injury, living with neurological deterioration or managing the demands of neurological recovery requires an understanding of the interplay between the physical, psychological and social demands upon a person and their family.

Renee has a deep understanding and respect for the body's ability to protect, heal and repair and is driven to understand how an injury may be impacting someone and advocate for change in their systems and environment. Renee works in a trauma informed way, pacing intervention and providing choices in managing fatigue, persistent pain and neurological recovery.

Renee is committed to the profession of occupational therapy, seeks out new research and development and maintains her professional ties with regular supervision and professional development.
